About Polyfoam’s EPS Products

Polyfoam manufactures Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) products for various industries, including food contact and non-food contact applications. EPS is 98% air and 2% polystyrene, making it an efficient insulator.

Manufacturing Process

Our process involves:

  1. Impregnating polystyrene with pentane gas.
  2. Expanding the material with steam.
  3. Shaping the product in a moulding machine.
  4. Cooling with externally monitored, treated water.
  5. Packaging the product with appropriately trained and outfitted staff.

Product Characteristics

  • Products may contain moisture and release a residual pentane gas odour (less than 1% by weight). This is more commonly observed in products that are bagged or wrapped.
  • Odour can dissipate within 24 hours in an open, dry and dust-free environment.
  • Products are 100% recyclable.

Storage and Handling

  • Store and transport products under cover in a dry, dust-free environment.
  • Avoid exposing products to dust, which can cause spots and dirty marks.
  • Ventilate or remove outer packaging before use to reduce moisture.
